Shubham Thukral

Senior Scientific Officer (Clinical Psychologist) and coordinator of the Centre for Happiness and well-being at National Forensic Sciences University, Gandhinagar Campus (an Institute of National Importance).

Clinical Psychologist registered with Rehabilitation Council of India, from the National Forensic Sciences University (erstwhile Gujarat Forensic Sciences University). Trained and skilled public speaker on issues of adolescence, child forensics, geriatric psychological disorders and aspects of Forensic Psychology & Psychiatry.

Academic background and specialization: Applied Psychology (Delhi University), Clinical Psychology (IGNOU) and Certification in Advanced Level of Behaviour Testing (IP University, Dwarka). A meritorious performer and compassionate Mental Health Advocate for Vulnerable Children in Distress. 

Ms Shubham has received intensive training in Child Forensics from the Ministry of Women and Child Development & National Institute of Mental Health, Neurosciences and Allied Fields (an Institute of National Importance). Her research area has focused on vulnerabilities and sexual abuse of at-risk children, neurodevelopmental issues and family dynamics of adolescents; Farmer’s Mental Health and Suicidal Risks; and death anxiety of elderly. I have been working in the field of advocacy for mental health issues of Adolescents for the past 10 years and have collaborated for the cause with reputed institutions like the Delhi University, NCERT, Government of Uttarakhand and Delhi Government.

At NFSU, she provides assessment and counselling services to the District Child Protection Unit, Gandhinagar, and Juvenile Justice Board in cases of Children in Conflict with Law and Children in Need of Care and Protection under the Juvenile Justice Act, and Family Court in divorce and child custody related matters. She provides consultancy for legal matters of the Centre for Happiness and Well-being; Centre of Excellence in Investigative Forensic Psychology (NFSU), serves as the Head of Divyang Committee for individuals with special needs at the School of Behavioural Forensics & have worked towards ensuring NFSU’s compliance to the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, National Human Rights Commission. 

As Coordinator and Senior Scientific Officer of the Centre for Happiness and Well-being (December 2022 - present), she collaborates with schools and NIPCCD Hqtrs, Delhi Ministry of Woman and Child Development, GOI to create awareness sessions for handling difficult behaviours in children and adolescents that lead to pathways to criminality and mental illness. She also conducts monthly Internships at the CHWB for candidates interested in Clinical and Neuropsychology. She has been awarded the Young Scientist Award from former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam (2008-2009).

ABOUT US

Project Empathy is an endeavour to address the impact and developmental consequences that Empathy has in shaping more sensitive and inclusive leaders for the future, who provide equitable help during times of disaster and crisis as witnessed during the pandemic and regular floods, earthquakes and landslides. It is an effort to bring empathy education in the mainstream curriculum of our schools to nurture emotionally strong and mentally robust humans for the future, who can contribute towards nation building.
